Ski The East is proud to be partnered with two amazing non-profit organizations, the Flyin Ryan Hawks Foundation and the High Fives Foundation. Working with these two influential groups allows us to offer hope and resources to athletes with life-changing injuries and inspire young people to never stop exploring adventure in the outdoors.
'Core Values Matter' are the three simple words that drive the Flyin Ryan Hawks Foundation. After Ryan passed, his family found a list of his 14 Core Values on his computer and it's those values that provide much of the inspiration driving their mission today. They have multiple programs and scholarships where they implement curriculum for athletes and coaches, as well as for high schools throughout VT. They also award Adventure Scholarships to those who need help with funding a dream they are passionate about.
Ryan was a Burlington, VT local who grew up skiing Sugarbush and Mad River Glen. He was an athlete who filmed with us during our Meathead Films days and became a full-time competitor on the Freeskiing World Tour. Ryan was a kind soul and a dear friend of Ski The East.
We are proudly the exclusive seller of Flyin Ryan gear and team up with this organization during their rad annual events!
The High Fives Foundation helps athletes affected by life changing injuries providing resources and financing for rehabilitation, equipment, and more. They have also implemented awareness programs to help young athletes avoid injury in the first place.
Roy Tuscany, the founder, is a good friend of ours and a fellow Meathead. He suffered a spinal injury in 2006, but through intense rehabilitation and lots of high fives, was able to get back on the trails in 2008. Roy's team at High Fives has helped over 350 athletes since, giving them a community to increase their quality of life.
Ski The East participates in High Five Foundation's incredible annual fundraising events such as their Fat-Ski-A-Thon and Charity Golf Tournament both at Sugarbush Resort.
